These two initiatives attack student privacy, erase equal education, and target youth who are different or vulnerable. The initiatives repeal protections for undocumented, homeless, disabled, and transgender students. Washington Families for Freedom is working to stop these harmful policies and protect fairness, dignity, and equal opportunity for every student.
Decline to Sign The Ballot Initiative
A Repeal of The Safety Act
This measure would roll back a key student privacy law and force schools to release sensitive student records.
- Take away legal privacy protections for students and families.
- Eliminate non-discrimination policies for homeless, immigrant, neurodiverse, and transgender students.
- Empower broad parental opt outs, silencing classroom conversations about race, gender, and our real history.
- Force teachers to follow confusing rules and meet strict deadlines, creating more red tape and less time for teaching.
- Bog schools down in administrative paperwork that takes funding away from teachers.
These policies distract schools from their mission: helping kids learn and grow after the pandemic. They put politics ahead of our students’ success and create mistrust and confusion in our schools.
Decline to Sign The Ballot Initiative
A Ban on Transgender Kids in School Sports
This initiative would stop transgender girls from playing on girls’ school sports teams. Some versions of the measure would even require all students to go through invasive medical exams or testing to “prove” their gender. This proposal would:
- Violate all students’ privacy and dignity with forced “sex” exams at the parent’s expense.
- Increase bullying, stigma, and division in schools.
- Create legal risks for schools, coaches, and teachers.
- Undo Washington’s successful sports inclusion policy that has worked since 2007.
This attack on transgender youth is not about fairness —it’s about a millionaire stoking fear to impose his extremist values on all Washington families and students. It hurts all students by turning sports into a political battleground instead of a place for teamwork and belonging.
