About Us
WA Families for Freedom is a group of parents, teachers, students and community members standing together for every student’s right to safety.
We are fighting against two harmful 2026 ballot initiatives that would increase students’ exposure to potential abuse. These measures, pushed by a right-wing mega-millionaire would take away protections for all students.
OUR MISSION
We are a statewide group of parents, teachers, students and community members joining together to protect the safety of all Washington students.
While costs are skyrocketing and our country is divided, a right-wing mega-millionaire from California wants to distract you from real problems by attacking vulnerable kids, especially LGBTQ+ kids.
They are using out-of-state paid signature gatherers to promote poorly written initiatives that will threaten the safety of all Washington students, putting them at greater risk of abuse at home and at school.
Most parents are loving and supportive, but the sad reality is not all kids are safe at home. The safety of all Washington students, not just LGBTQ+ kids, would be put at greater risk by these dangerous initiatives. Learn more about these initiatives.
Our Values
We believe every child should be free to be themselves, learn and grow, and feel safe at school.
Our schools should be safe, fair, respectful, and give every student their best chance to succeed. All students should be treated kindly, have their privacy protected, and be free from abuse. No group should be singled out for exclusion or discrimination in schools because of who they are, what they believe, or how they look.
Washington has a strong history of supporting equal rights. Our current anti-discrimination laws have worked for almost 20 years. For more than 15 years, they’ve ensured that every student, no matter their gender, can play school sports and take part in school activities. These rules help build schools where all kids can learn safely, play together, and build their confidence.
